Hej there! I’m Lucija
I’m a data scientist and engineer, currently between jobs after eight-plus years in Big Tech. I like solving problems, building things on the side, and writing about what I learn along the way.
Born and raised European, now living in Seattle and making the most of the PNW - skiing (working towards feeling comfortable on double blacks), playing and watching football/soccer (idemo Vatreni!), lifting weights, and tennis. I’d like to get into backcountry skiing too, but that’s a project for another year. I try to read as much as possible, mostly fiction - there’s nothing like disappearing into a different world for a while.
This year I want to get better at photography and take decent shots with my Nikon Z50 that aren’t on auto and are at least marginally better than my iPhone.
My husband and I try to travel somewhere out of state every quarter - it’s one of our favourite things to do together along with skiing and tinkering with techie stuff.
What I do
- Machine Learning & Engineering - ML models, data pipelines, and breaking down complex topics into approachable writing.
- Building things - from homelabs and side projects to whatever catches my interest (Claude Code made this much easier).
- This blog - where I write about tech, things I’m learning or building, and the occasional life update. Mostly for myself, but you’re welcome to follow along.
